AEG Airsoft Gun Maintenance
Every electronic and mechanical thing requires proper maintenance in order to give its maximum output. Like wise an AEG Airsoft Gun requires proper maintenance to keep working properly and for a longer time. Use proper methods and appropriate tools to clean and maintain your airsoft gun.
Before starting to clean the first thing to do is remove the charger. Fire all the bullets until the chamber is empty and then remove the battery. Also don’t forget to put the gun on single shot mode. Now you are clear to go. Start with the barrel. A stick with a beveled end, incorporated with the gun is used to clean the barrel. Use the beveled end of the stick to remove any blocked BBs in the barrel. This is a tricky part. Insert the stick slowly and steadily through the angular side and make the BB drop down through the feeder.
Now that you are done removing the stuck pellets it is time to clean the internal part of the barrel. Put a piece of cotton with a few drops of alcohol on it, on the other end of the stick. Clean the dirt on the wall of the barrel. Then remove the cotton and place a cloth lubricated with silicon oil. Slowly move the stick through the barrel to a point where it remains below the hop up. Repeat the process until the cloth comes out clean. Now spray the interior of the barrel with silicon and there you have it, you airsoft as good as new.
For long term storage it is important that you completely discharge your battery and remove it, remove the magazine and clean and lubricate your gun before storing. Having a partially charged battery can have leakages if kept under unsuitable conditions, and if kept inside the gun could lead to permanent damage to the gun. Over time dirt can cause rust to the mechanical setup of the gun so it is better you clean and lubricate it before storage. Finally, put your gun in a dust free, air tight case to prevent any other damage.
Some precautions to make your airsoft last longer
Do not empty the magazine in one go, especially a hi-cap magazine. Excessive firing causes premature wear inside the gearbox. Do not push the trigger in any other direction or at any other angle, it will also damage the gearbox. Over charging the battery can decrease its life or cause permanent damage to it. Using an overheated battery can damage your gun. Changing the fire mode while in use can also damage your airsoft.
Cleaning and lubrication has to be done after 2000 fires and especially if it has been used in a very dirty environment. Remember that the performance of the airsoft gun depends on the condition of the barrel. Maintain your airsoft gun regularly to avoid permanent damages, jams and wear and tear.
