When you start a game it is better to know all its rules and follow them. So before you start using your airsoft it is better than you are aware of the airsoft gun safety and follow it to avoid any mishaps. An airsoft gun is an exact copy of the real thing in appearance and weight but use soft BBs instead of bullets. They are harmless as long as certain safety precautions are observed.
Even though airsoft guns use soft pellets, they can be harmful. They do not cause life threatening injuries but they can cause long term injuries. A shot from an airsoft to the eye can cause permanent blindness, which brings us to our first safety step, eye protection. Special safety goggles are designed for protection when using airsoft gun. The regular glasses cannot protect you from these pellets, the glass will crack on impact. The pellet of an airsoft can also cause bruises and cuts. It is better is you use a complete face mask rather than a goggle alone. Face masks protect you from damages to facial features such as teeth, cheeks and ears, and in doing so a complete shield for the eyes. Another safety gear available is a tactical vest, which not only protects your body but also gives you room to carry your accessories.
Carrying & Shooting Safety
It is advised that you think of your airsoft as the real thing. Do not point it at anyone or anything unless you intend to shoot. A misfire can lead to injuries or damages so it wise to keep your gun pointed to the ground and your finger away from the trigger. Only put your finger on the trigger when you have the target locked. Also you should know what is behind or near the target, in case you miss you could end up hurting someone. When transporting it from one place to another use a protective case.
Another thing a person must know about their airsoft is the speed at which the BB travels when fired. Generally the speed of the fired BB is in the range of 200-400ft/sec but can go over the 400ft/sec mark. A mishit at this speed could cause severe damage to unprotected body parts and close targets. Firing at a lower speed with a heavier BB can cause the same amount of damage.
All airsoft guns have an orange tip to differentiate from real guns. Removing them is a federal crime and you could end up in the court of law. Do not regard this gun as a casual toy, it could cause you serious repercussions if you do not follow the safety precautions.
